이 노래는 약 4분 42초분량으로

처음에 피아노, 신세사이저와 기타를 주축으로 물흐르는듯한, 서정적인 리듬의 반주로 시작된다.

 

이어서 남성가수의 나레이션형식으로 첫소절(They say...)의 가사가 낭독된다.

 

곧 이어 후렴(Like a roller...)이 모두에 의해 노래되고, 2절(I‘ve traveled...)은 여성가수의 독창으로 이어진다.

 

역시 전체에 의한 후렴노래에 이어 3절(The morning breeze...)은 여성 듀엣으로 노래한다.

 

마지막으로 모두에 의해 다시 한번 후렴노래가 되풀이되고 서서히 사그라진다.

곡도 좋지만 가사내용이 마음에 와 닿는다.

 

특히 2절에서

“모든 죽은 것과 살아있는 것들,

그리고 살아있으려는 의지사이에

무엇이 차이를 만드는가하는 물음에 대한 대답은

어디엔가 있다”

라는 대목에서 목이 메인다.

 

요즘 이곡을 다시 듣는다.

지나온 세월을 아련히 회상하면서 남은 날을 어떻게 보내야 할것인가 하는 물음에 대한 대답이

어디엔가 있을것이라는 기대속에  절대자가 부르는 그 날까지 쉬지 않고 일어나 가야한다고 생각하면서...
